Since its launch in 1983, G-SHOCK, the tough watch that has continued to evolve in pursuit of tireless strength, has released this new model, crafted with recycled materials and a focus on sustainability. The band features materials from the "FOODTEXTILE" project, which repurposes discarded food materials as dye. The base model is the GMD-S5600, a slimmer, more compact version of the iconic square-shaped DW-5600. The cross band of the GMD-S5600CT-3 is dyed with a color extracted from red turnips, resulting in a soft blue-gray hue. The cross band of the GMDS5600CT-4 is dyed with a color extracted from cherry blossoms, resulting in a soft pale pink. The gentle color, made with over 90% natural dyes, is distinctive. The band is also made from "TRUECOTTON," a traceable organic cotton that can be traced to farms and spinning mills. This reduces the environmental impact while protecting the working conditions and craftsmanship of all involved in production. Furthermore, the main resin parts of the bezel are made from biomass plastic, which is derived from renewable organic resources and is expected to contribute to reducing environmental impact, such as by curbing CO2 emissions. What would otherwise have been thrown away has been reborn as a new watch, making this an environmentally friendly, sustainable watch.
