Product Description
This exquisite agarwood incense, "Amacha-ka," features a calming aroma, crafted from carefully selected sweet tea, poured over the Buddha statue on April 8th to celebrate the birth of Buddha. It's crafted with high-quality agarwood. It's not a luxury incense, but rather an offering of incense, which is usually presented to the Buddha after first presenting a beautiful offering of one's favorite food to the Buddha, and then receiving the leftovers. For occasions such as Obon, when ancestors who have transformed themselves into Buddhas return, it's said that beautiful makeup (performed in a kagura-like dance of hospitality) and offering a feast to the Buddha during Obon will grant the Buddha's wishes, granting the Buddha's blessings to the deceased and their families, and bringing peace to the world. The famous and beloved sweet tea incense is said to grant the Buddha's wish for a feast, as it opens the eyes of attentiveness, consideration, and care, building a mountain of moral tradition, maintaining order by respecting superiors, leading to self-forgetfulness and acts of altruism, and providing merit for surviving descendants to pass on good deeds to their ancestors. In treating our ancestors, who will return as Buddhas, we extend our measure of compassion and offer the Buddha's favorite sweet tea incense during the Obon festival, welcoming guests with dignity and sincerity in a grand gesture of hospitality. Offering a feast with attention, consideration, and care brings the greatest merit and refines and elevates one's character. It grants the Buddha's wish for a feast.
