After use, they can be thoroughly washed with dish soap. Odate Kogeisha is committed to using precious Akita cedar trees over 100 years old for their products. From lumbering and bending to cherry bark stitching, bottom insertion, and finishing, everything is done in-house, with skilled craftsmen creating each "magewappa" (bentwood bento box). In addition to traditional "magewappa," they are also working on creating a variety of products to suit changing lifestyles and tastes.

Bento boxes have countless invisible holes. These holes absorb excess steam and release steam when the inside of the lunch box dries out. The humidity-regulating function of cedar is the reason why rice and side dishes remain fluffy and not hard even when cooled.
Bento boxes are said to be 70% air, making them surprisingly light when you hold them. In addition, the scent of the cedar raw material has a relaxing effect on the mind and body. Cedar is said to have a strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus, one of the bacteria that cause food poisoning. To make it easy to use for daily lunches, the containers (excluding the rice container) are coated. This prevents starch, which causes discoloration, from seeping into the lunch box. Even if you put in oily side dishes, it can be easily cleaned with household detergent. In addition, the coating increases durability, allowing for longer use.
