This is a background model for an aircraft carrier diorama, with the flight deck and hangar modeled in three dimensions based on information from the Nimitz-class nuclear aircraft carrier.
It recreates the area around the fourth catapult located on the port side of the hull.
The hangar has been moved to the port side more than on the actual ship, making the overall design more compact.
The Nimitz class has been in service for a long time, so you can enjoy carrying a variety of aircraft, including the F-4 Phantom II, F-14 Tomcat, F-35C, RF-8 Crusader, F/A-18 Hornet, RA-5 Vigilante, A-6 Intruder, A-7 Corsair II, E-2 Hawkeye, C-2 Greyhound, EA-6 Prowler, S-3 Viking, SH-3 Sea King, and SH-60 Seahawk.
This is a multi-material model made up of a flight deck and hangar deck molded into acrylic plates using laser processing, parts made from 13 sheets of high-density cardboard also laser processed, and parts created using a 3D printer.
Just like with plastic models, acrylic paints can be used for painting, and the acrylic flight deck can also be inked or stained with enamel paint.
Some of the sample photos show aircraft as diorama examples, but please note that the aircraft is not included.
