Djembe is a percussion instrument, an ethnic African drum that was invented in the western part of Africa, in Mali. Slowly but surely, the djembe won the hearts of music lovers, moving further to the west of Africa. It took this drum 7 centuries to reach the shores of other continents. The design of the djembe is quite original. The djembe body is in the shape of a cup, covered with shaved goat skin. It is played with two hands.
