Product introduction
Commemorative edition for visiting Japan! A memorable 1st album ('16) by jazz pianist Amaro Freitas from Recife in northeastern Brazil, which has received rave reviews around the world, such as 'An Amazingly Unique Approach to Keyboard' (Downbeat), has been released for the first time in Japan! It is a great Brazilian piano trio masterpiece that combines traditional Brazilian rhythms with the enthusiasm of bebop, centering on his own piano trio.
The literal translation of “Sangue Negro” is 'black blood. ' According to an interview that was conducted earlier, the title song performed by Bebop “expresses the busy (hectic) everyday life we live in this country. It feels like our bodies are getting hot and tight. In Brazil, young people with black bodies and black blood have the highest mortality rate. By bringing in a Bebop reference here, I am expressing my admiration and respect for the blood of black people in Brazil.” At the same time, rhythms possessed by traditional Brazilian music such as samba, flevo, and maracatu are also used everywhere in other songs, and it can be said that it is an album that perfectly harmonizes classical jazz with such Brazilian elements.
Although it is a debut work, the genealogy of bossa nova and samba jazz such as Don Salvador and Johnny Alf and a unique piano with an approach common to modern jazz talents such as Vijay Iyer and Craig Taybone are already in the process of completion, and the ensemble with his own trio and guests who have shared activities for many years is intense .
Since the Brazilian CD was already difficult to obtain, the Japanese CD version this time is truly long-awaited. Also, it will be released with an alternative design, which is different from the Brazilian CD.
