Product introduction
'Analog Africa' is a German reprint specialty label that reissues rare groove sound sources from all over Africa recorded from the 1970s to the 80s. The luxurious full-color booklet with detailed explanations and rare photos included in the package is also creating a buzz every time.
This new album to be released by this company is a compilation work from 1973 to 84 left on the legendary Ghanaian record label “Essie Bonds.” The mid-70s to 80s were truly a golden period for the same label known for being strong in High Life, Afrobeat, and Afro-Funk. Artists representing Essie Bonds in this era are the mogul of the Ghanaian High Life scene along with E.T. Mensah: C.K. Man, the leading actor in Funky High Life, Jedu Bray Amborey, the great singer of High Life Scene: Kofi Papa Jansson, Ernest Honey, who is familiar with his unique keyboard/synth use, and Rob (Roy Leindorf), who has a funk groove similar to J.B. ), and Evo Taylor, the legendary master of the Ghanaian music world, and such people are among those names. It can be said that the lineup is irresistible for Afro Rare Groove fans.
In order to create this work, a digital archive of the master tape owned by the legendary producer Dick Essiffe-Bonsey, who is the founder of the label, was made into a digital archive. It seems that the number of master tapes was huge. During the digitization process, many masterpieces of Afrobeat and instrumental numbers that happened to be stored for some reason at the time were discovered. Not to mention popular numbers known only to those in the know, but this work also contains plenty of such precious excavated sound sources. Incidentally, Mr. Essiffy Bonzi, the sound source provider, was an important person who won numerous honors in the Ghanaian music scene, but unfortunately passed away in 2020 without seeing the light of the completion of the work. There is also such a reason, and this work also has the meaning of being a memorial board praising his great achievements. (1/2)
