Nominated for Germany's Game of the Year (Spiel des Jahres) in 2019. L.A.M.A is a simple game in which players play all the cards they are dealt. Basic Rules First, shuffle the cards and deal six cards to each player. The remaining cards are put into a deck and the game begins with the top card being placed on the table. During your turn, you have three options: 1) Play one card from your hand, 2) Draw one card from the deck, or 3) Quit that round. When playing cards, you can only play cards with numbers equal to or greater than the cards in the table. You can only play a llama if you have a 6, and after a llama you can only play a 1. If you have no cards in your hand that you can play, you draw a card from the deck. If you have no cards in your hand that you can play and no cards in the deck, you must quit that round. If it is your turn, you can fold regardless of whether you have cards in your hand or the deck. The round ends when someone has run out of cards or everyone has folds. How the points are calculated The total of the numbers on the cards remaining each round is accumulated as the points lost by each player. However, if there are multiple cards of the same type, they are treated as one card, and a llama is calculated as -10 points. For example, if you have one 3, three 4s, and two llamas remaining, your score will be -3-4-10 = -17 points. White chips are dealt to each player with a value of -1 and black chips with a value of -10. Players who have played all of their cards in that round can return one chip, either black or white, from their accumulated losses. If they can return a black chip, it's a chance to make a comeback. When someone has reached -40 points, the player with the fewest losses wins.
