[Machine Description]
The Abyss Crawler is a third-generation Hexa Gear developed by the Liberty Alliance.
It was developed for the purpose of exploring and conquering confined terrain such as culverts. Unlike other third-generation units, it has two Zoatex modes, and its Zoatex mode is always active.
At the beginning of the war, urban centers across the country were subjected to surprise attacks by unmanned Hexa Gear known as Hidestorms. Subsequent investigations revealed the existence of numerous other large, ancient underground pipes and facilities that had been used as infiltration routes during attacks, and the Liberty Alliance urgently sought to uncover the full extent of these. As a result, almost all geographical information about the underground structure beyond a rough outline was lost, and the area had already become enemy territory, with MSG Valiant Force Hexa Gear and droids roaming the area.
Hidestorms, skilled in electronic warfare such as VIC Blades, posed a particularly great threat, exposing communication lines, repeaters, and power lines connecting cities and threatening Liberty Alliance cooperation from below. The Liberty Alliance recognized the need to clear this contaminated underground space, and hastily assembled a unit and Hexa Gear dedicated to the task.
The development of this weapon involved salvaging the remains of a destroyed Hidestorm and redesigning its frame structure. However, with no prospect of replicating, controlling, or neutralizing the phenomenon, the VIC Blade remains a second-best countermeasure. The weapon equipped on the left arm is the Invasion Counter Shield, commonly known as "ICS." Due to a chronic parts shortage, only a small number of units were initially produced, and they were organized into squads and sent underground into the darkness. Countless areas of severe contamination (Level 6 "Abyss") caused by the operation of the Crystal Furnace exist underground, far worse than the contaminated areas on the surface. The Abyss Crawler crawled through the sludge and rubble, sometimes engaging Hidestorms and sometimes small droids, fighting in secret.
