Review
One day, a mysterious man named Keiki appears before Yoko, a quiet, honor student and class representative. Keiki, who calls Yoko his master, transports her to another world and unwillingly becomes embroiled in a battle... This epic fantasy set in another world is a long-running project by Fuyumi Ono, the popular horror novelist known for works such as "Shiki." This highly anticipated anime adaptation brings together a team of talented staff, including director Tsuneo Kobayashi of "Super GALS Kotobuki Ran" and series composition and adaptation by Noboru Aikawa of "Kiko Kiden Hiwou Senki." The setting of the Twelve Kingdoms and its yokai-like characters may be a bit difficult to understand unless you're a fan of the original work. Still, the eye-catching, handsome characters and fast-paced plot draw you in. (Yumi Yoneda) --- December 2002 Issue -- Contents (From the "CD Journal Review")

Although originally published as a light novel (young adult novel), Fuyumi Ono's epic fantasy series, "Twelve Kingdoms," has gained a readership across generations due to its entertaining nature. Based on the first work, "Shadow of the Moon, Sea of Shadows," veteran screenwriter Noboru Aikawa was appointed by the original author to adapt the story, and this is the first volume of the animation that was broadcast on NHK satellite. It includes episodes 1 and 2, which serve as the prologue.
Nakajima Yoko is an ordinary high school girl. One day, a young man calling himself Keiki appears before her and takes her to a strange, parallel world. There, strange creatures known as demons run rampant, and Yoko is attacked by one. Why was she brought there? Where exactly is this place? Yoko must live in this strange world in order to survive.
