How to distinguish pure titanium
1. Observe the appearance and oxide film
Natural oxidation color: The surface of pure titanium is silver-gray. Over time, oxidation may cause a colored sheen (blue, gold, etc.), but this should be distinguished from any coating.
No electroplated look: Most pure titanium has a matte or brushed finish. If the surface is too shiny, it may be a plated layer.
2. Test the physical properties
Weight comparison: For the same size cutting board, pure titanium weighs about half as much as stainless steel and slightly heavier than aluminum. Magnetic test: Titanium is non-magnetic and will not be attracted to a magnet (note: some stainless steels are also non-magnetic).
3. Professional testing method (optional)
Resistance Test: Titanium has a higher resistance and is less conductive than aluminum and stainless steel.
Spark test: When polishing titanium, very short white sparks will be produced (expert operation required).
