When wringing, use a gentle wringing motion. When using a washing machine, place the garment in a net and set the spin cycle to a short time. Before drying, adjust the shape and lay flat or hang on a clothesline to prevent the cotton from becoming stiff. If you are concerned about the fabric fading, we recommend drying in the shade. Last year, we received a request from a customer asking, "Is there a haori that is not 100% polyester, but has a good amount of cotton in it?" and so we made one! This is a carefully made Japanese hanten! Each piece is sewn by hand, so the seams are not as stiff as those made by a sewing machine, and the finished product is soft. The filling is also 70% cotton, making it as warm as wearing a futon. If it were made of 100% cotton, it would be too heavy, so we mixed in 30% polyester to give it a fluffy feel.
