Kyo-yaki (Kiyomizu ware) is one of Kyoto's most representative traditional crafts. Its name is said to derive from the many kilns, including those of Kiyomizu Rokubei and Takahashi Michihachi, located around Gojozaka, the approach to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. This beautiful matcha bowl, with its soft, indigo crystalline glaze, evokes the early summer sky. It also makes a perfect gift.
