The Visconti-Sforza Edition, Considered the World's Oldest Tarot

This deck is considered one of the oldest surviving tarot decks, famous for being one of the few to remain intact from the time of its creation in the mid-15th century. Commissioned by the painter Bonifacio Bembo by Filippo Maria Visconti, Duke of Milan, and his successor, Francesco Sforza, it features many beautiful images of members of the Visconti and Sforza families dressed in period-appropriate costumes.

It is said that these cards were brought to France and used as a model for the Marseilles edition.

Originally created for the popular card game of Trionfi, the deck evolved over the course of the next three centuries into a divination tool, becoming one of the most popular forms of divination in recent years.
