[Kiwi Ears x Crinacle] We collaborated with Crinacle, a world-renowned audio reviewer. Crinacle has a frequency measurement database, a compilation of acoustic signatures available online, that allows you to visualize the acoustic signature of headphones and earphones. Crinacle is demystifying the audio industry and paving new paths to establish a scientific and transparent approach to headphone and earphone design. Crinacle has brought their many years of experience and knowledge to the design of Singolo. [Kiwi Acoustic Resonance System (KARS)] KARS is no gimmick - it's a discrete bandpass filter that manipulates airflow to the driver and adjusts low-frequency output. This acquired innovation features an intricate, labyrinthine tube network designed based on multiple scientific and physical models to perfectly calculate the proper resonance points for the Singolo's drivers. KARS delivers a tight sub-bass shelf previously impossible in a single-driver IEM. The quality, quantity, and texture of the bass are unparalleled when compared to other tuning strategies used in similar driver formats. Unlike traditional crossover networks that use multiple drivers and RC (resistor-capacitor) networks, KARS uses Helmholtz resonance for tuning. Airflow to the dynamic driver regulates how responsive the diaphragm can be, but requires additional calculations of flow rate, direction, and volume. KARS allows you to precisely adjust this airflow to manipulate the sound as desired. While capacitors and resistors provide a calculated means of crossover solution, when cheap SMD components are used, they can add unwanted artifacts to the sound in the form of distortion. To take full advantage of the KARS system, Singolo features a custom, Japanese-made liquid crystal polymer (LCP) diaphragm driver. This 11mm dynamic driver was custom-crafted for the KARS format, featuring unique front and rear acoustic chamber profiles. LCP was chosen as the diaphragm material for its crisp, natural tonal characteristics. Stiffer metal-based diaphragms impart a metallic tone to their sound quality, while plastic-based diaphragms tend to sound dull. LCP provides the perfect balance between rigidity for sharp transient response and natural tonal character. By implementing KARS, this driver is precision-tuned purely using acoustic dynamics, meaning the sound you hear is purely from the driver. Singolo is tuned according to the Clinacles tone signature, a synthesis of tuning profiles found in some of the world's most successful earphones of the past. Featuring an 8dB sub-bass shelf, the bass is incredibly strong and powerful, yet cleanly cut off at 300Hz. This results in a neutral midrange, clearly expressing the natural sound of vocals and instruments without artificial bloat or muddiness. The treble is perfectly contoured to the ear curve, with a clean 3kHz peak and a natural decay to the upper treble. With Singolo, a perfectly natural sound signature is key—a subwoofer without a subwoofer.
