Shingon Buddhist prayer beads. Bead material: Boxwood. Suitable for both men and women.
Prayer beads size: 2 shaku (approx. 36 cm) Shape: round beads (varnish coated)
Construction: Traditional prayer beads, joint construction (parent beads and four heavenly beads are made of the same material as the child beads)
Woolly Rikyu Bonten (golden brown)
Manufactured by: Kyoto (Kyoto prayer beads)
These are formal prayer beads (juzu) used in the Shingon sect. They are delivered in a paulownia wood box, making them ideal for gifts. They are a small, two-shaku size (approximately 36cm), making them suitable for both men and women.
Boxwood is a small evergreen tree that is also written as "boxwood," "tsuge," or "boxwood."
The wood is yellowish-brown in color, has fine grain, and is strong, allowing for fine processing, and is used for seals, printing blocks, chess and shogi pieces, combs, and prayer beads.
In addition, the more you use the wood, the more it develops a luster and character, so by handling it frequently, it will develop a weight and dignity that a new piece does not have.
We use varnished balls, which have the advantage of being more resistant to moisture and have a lighter texture than plain ground balls without a coating.
Please refer to the product image for the prayer beads size before purchasing.
