This is the second film in the series, released in 1993, based on the near-future robot action anime that began in 1988 with an original video version, a feature film version, a TV version, and a second original video version. A missile dropped on the Yokohama Bay Bridge and information manipulation throw Tokyo into a fictional wartime situation. Who created this situation, and what is their purpose? The members of the Second Platoon of the Special Vehicle Section 2, who had already been assigned to separate departments, reunite to resolve the situation.
This film depicts the "February 26 Incident" in the near future in 2002, sharply questioning Japan's current state of peace. This masterpiece, which will go beyond the scope of a "Mobile Police Patlabor" series, is sure to remain in cinematic history. The DVD release also includes a renewed 5.1ch soundtrack, making it a perfect version in every respect. (Gen Tanaka)
