Description
In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK. This product shattered the notion that watches are fragile jewelry that need to be handled with care. Casio engineers took on the challenge of creating the world's toughest timepiece. Its triple-protection design for components, modules, and case offered a revolutionary new type of watch that was impervious to strong impacts and vibrations. Its practicality was quickly recognized, and its unique appearance, embodying its functionality, garnered immense popularity, leading to explosive sales in the early 1990s. G-SHOCK soon adopted a variety of new sensors, solar-powered radio control technology (explained below), and new materials to further improve durability. By constantly leveraging the latest technology and constantly pushing the boundaries of conventional watchmaking, the G-SHOCK brand became Casio's flagship watch.
