The M80 is a dynamic microphone that has the performance of a condenser microphone. It is unidirectional and boasts a wide dynamic range and frequency response. The body is made of rubber laminate to suppress handling noise, and the diaphragm's tone is open and wide, so you can expect a sound with a strong presence without being drowned out in the mix. The M80's biggest features are a newly designed low mass voice coil, an ultra-thin mylar diaphragm, and a custom output transformer manufactured by AMI/TAB-Funkenwerk. This newly designed diaphragm can convert into electrical signals with high efficiency without changing the ``tone'' that was lost with conventional ``heavy'' diaphragms and voice coils. The transformer produces a sound with the unique warmth and presence of good old analog audio.
