The igusa grass is treated with Aomori hiba (cypress) for antibacterial and deodorizing properties. This product is made using proprietary technology from the manufacturer, using hiba oil extracted from hiba trees in Aomori Prefecture. Hiba oil contains hinokitiol, a naturally occurring substance with extremely high antibacterial properties, and research is underway into its use in medicine, food, and other fields.
