[Product Features] Pork pie hat, straw hat, boater hat, large size, loose fit, oversized, 65cm, straw, for men, women, casual wear
■The "Pork Pie Big Hat" fits even the biggest heads.
The pork pie hat is named after the shape of the top, which resembles the British local dish pork pie. It has a more casual feel than a fedora and is easy to wear, making it popular. This time, we've made the pork pie hat in a larger size for those with larger heads! The average head circumference for Japanese people is generally said to be 57cm, but this time we've made it at 65cm, which is significantly larger. This size is perfect for those who have always wanted a hat but couldn't find one in their size, as well as those who prefer a looser fit.
■ Traditional handicrafts that are also functional
Straw hats are primarily made from barley stalks. They are made from "Mugiwara Sanada," which is made by braiding seven of these stalks into a Sanada string. Straw allows air to pass through easily, releasing heat that tends to build up inside the hat and helping to prevent heatstroke. Experience the benefits of a traditional straw hat, especially in Japan's humid summers. Of course, it also makes a wonderful gift. Proof that it has been carefully crafted by Japanese artisans, the inside of the hat has a "Made by Tanaka Hat Shop" tag.
Tanaka Hat Shop: A Traditional Masterpiece
Around 1880, Tanaka Hat Shop began making "Sanada," a braided cord made from braided wheat, as a side job while running a farm. It wasn't until about 20 years later, around 1897, that they began making hats in earnest. Even now, more than a century later, Tanaka Hat Shop continues to preserve the good old traditional techniques while also creating products that incorporate modern needs, making it one of Japan's leading long-established hat manufacturers, to the point that it is often said that "when you think of Japanese straw hats, you think of Tanaka Hat Shop."
