The 475 series is an AC/DC express train compatible with 60Hz AC and equipped with retarder brakes.
After express service was discontinued, these trains were used for local service. In the Hokuriku region, they were painted white with blue stripes, but from around February 2010, trains with a solid blue color scheme began appearing.
