Tsuguharu Foujita's Writings During Wartime: Collection of Newspaper and Magazine Contributions 1935-1956

Beskrivning
Commemorative Publication for the 50th Anniversary of His Death The Passion in His "War Paintings" The outbreak of war, his experiences in French Indochina, his reporting on the Southern Front, his defeat, and his departure from Japan... Foujita's thoughts in his 50s and 60s.
Established in Paris in the 1920s for his distinctive milky-white nudes, painter Tsuguharu Foujita lived in wartime Japan and produced "war documentary paintings" such as "Suicide Attack on Attu Island" and "Faithful Fellow Patriots on Saipan Island." During this period, from the Second Sino-Japanese War to the Pacific War, he continued to paint while also contributing writings to newspapers and magazines. This book reprints Foujita's major wartime works for the first time, and, together with his essays, reveals a new perspective on his wartime imagery through the correlation between painting and writing.
