The story follows the protagonist, the son of one of the five imperial generals, as he gathers 108 companions to fight against the oppressive rule of a devastated empire. This moving story, depicting the bonds between family and friends, was highly praised worldwide.
Systems unique to "Suikoden," such as the "crest" and "108 companions," have been carried over to subsequent titles in the series.
