Bodhidharma, also known as the Bodhidharma Founder or Bodhidharma, is an Indian Buddhist monk and the founder of Chinese Zen Buddhism. His name, "Dharma," originally comes from the Sanskrit word for "law." Born a prince in southern India, Bodhidharma traveled to China, but was disfavored by the then Emperor Wu and was sent to Shaolin Temple on Mount Song (a decision that Wu later regretted). Legend has it that Bodhidharma spent nine years in zazen meditation facing a wall at Shaolin Temple. He subsequently took on disciples such as Huike and Yunlin, helping to spread Zen Buddhism throughout China. Bodhidharma's life and actions have led to his reverence as a symbol of indomitable spirit and the fulfillment of great aspirations, making him an object of worship. This statue of Bodhidharma is carved from boxwood, depicting the monk seated in meditation. The statues are made from rare boxwood, harvested from the high mountain region of Hubei Province, China, and are meticulously handcrafted by expert artisans. Combined with the beautiful boxwood, the statues perfectly capture the breathing expression and posture of Bodhidharma. Available in two sizes: 8cm and 11cm.
