FREE THE TONE's instrument cables are developed and commercialized over a long period of time based on the concept of "a sound that makes you want to play forever." To ensure that the actual sound you get is pleasing, we repeatedly create prototypes while considering the balance between electrical performance and durability. In order to explore new materials and new structures, we have created more than 20 types of cable prototypes over the past five years.
The CU-7030 is a shielded instrument cable with a pleasing sound that we have finally achieved. It features a black protective sleeve with blue accents and zinc alloy plug caps bearing FREE THE TONE's unique wave logo.
Covering the surface of a shielded cable with a protective sleeve is a method that has been used for a long time, but we considered various angles, such as the changes in sound quality that would occur if we changed the material of this protective sleeve, the ease of handling the cable, how it would curl, etc. In the end, we decided on a method in which we wrapped and wove the fibers around the outside of the cable.
We also worked on developing a new plug cap. This is the first time that FREE THE TONE has attempted to produce a plug cap by casting. The zinc alloy used in the casting process is highly durable and has strength as well. By using this plug cap, we were able to suppress harsh high-frequency overtones, resulting in a softer, more solid sound.
To achieve a comfortable sound, the CU-7030 was designed with a variety of guitars, basses, and amplifiers in mind, with a focus on sound attack and tone. Try turning down the volume and tone on your guitar a little. You'll likely notice a pleasant change in sound. The shielded cable is also part of the instrument.
