We are back in stock of large indigo-dyed vintage crosses made by the Mosi people of Burkina Faso, West Africa, which are always completed immediately and are made of indigo-dyed, hand-woven obi cloth.

Hand-spun, hand-woven, and hand-dyed, each step is carefully made using traditional techniques. The old cloth itself was hand-woven 20 to 40 years ago and dyed with indigo, and was used as a loincloth for many years. Antique crosses are now rare items that are difficult to obtain locally.

Indigo dyeing has been popular in West Africa since ancient times, and the culture of indigo dyeing has been passed down from parents to children. This product is dyed with an indigo plant called Yoruba indigo, which is a member of the legume family, and has excellent antibacterial, insect repellent, mold, and deodorizing effects.

Hand-woven 10-13cm wide strips of fabric are sewn together to form a single stole. After processing the edges into a shawl fringe, the fabric is dyed multiple times using natural indigo dye. Women spin cotton into thread, men weave the thread into cloth, and indigo dyers dye it.

A one-of-a-kind item. It's made of cotton, so unlike wool or cashmere, you can wear it all year round.

The color is a deep dark blue indigo. It's a stole that's worth growing, and you can enjoy the fading color every time you use it, just like vintage denim pants. It has an atmosphere unique to vintage old cloth that cannot be achieved with new clothes.
